Water is essential to human health

Did you know? Nearly every part of you is composed of water – from your brain and heart, to your skin and bones. In fact, your body is made up of 60% of water. 404 So, it’s no wonder why staying hydrated is so important.

Water is essential for many functions throughout your body.

  • It regulates body temperature
  • Keeps joints lubricated
  • Prevents infections
  • Delivers nutrients to cells
  • Keeps organs functioning
  • Assists with digestion
  • Flushes bacteria from your bladder

On top of that, your hydration status strongly influences your energy levels, brain function, sleep quality, mood, and weight. With all of this in mind, you may be surprised to learn that the average American still only drinks 1.8 cups of water a day, and lives in a state of dehydration. This often results in fatigue, dizziness, dry skin, headaches, concentration difficulties, and more.

An easy solution? Drink more water! According to experts 404, the average adult woman needs roughly 11 cups of water per day, while men need around 16 cups. But as with most things, the amount varies per individual. To figure out how much water you need, divide your weight (in pounds) in half, and drink that many ounces. But don’t forget, if you’re exercising you’ll need to make up for the water you’re losing in sweat.

Whether you forget to drink water, or just dislike the taste – we’re sharing some of our top three tips to help keep you hydrated and healthy.

Because after all, if water is within reach, you will quickly make it a habit to take a few sips everytime you're looking at it.

2. Infuse your water

Not all of the water you need has to come from a tall glass. If you eat a healthy, whole food diet, you’re already consuming some water.
